Company History

Early History

Morris & Richard Consulting Engineers Limited was incorporated in 1971 by Denis J. Morris, P. Eng. & Robert J. Richard, P. Eng. to provide design and supervisory services in the disciplines of mechanical and electrical engineering.  A privately held business, wholly owned by Nova Scotians, with its head office was located at 5531 Cornwallis Street, Halifax, Nova Scotia; Morris & Richard broadened the long term prospects of the company while providing security of commitment and service to the firm’s clients for over 50 years.

Transition

In 2007, Denis A. Morris, P. Eng. successfully transitioned the company to its second generation as M&R ENGINEERING. In the years since, Michael Myatt, CET; Aaron Smith, P. Eng.; and Charles Nelson, CET, joined as partners in the firm maintaining M&R Engineering as a privately held business, wholly owned by Nova Scotians while growing to employ over forty staff in Halifax and Sydney.

After 50 years in practice, M&R Engineering continues to work mainly in Nova Scotia, while expanding to hold licenses and work in New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland/Labrador.

In January 2024, M&R joined BPA, an engineering firm headquartered in Montreal and specialized in mechanical, electrical, structural engineering, and energy modeling. This partnership marks a significant milestone for both companies, combining their expertise and resources to enhance service offerings and expand their reach across Canada and beyond. Under the new alliance, M&R Engineering continues its commitment to delivering exceptional engineering solutions while leveraging the strengths and capabilities of BPA to drive innovation and excellence in the industry.
