This new kiosk is located at the entrance to the Kouchibouguac National Park Campground. The project is designed to achieve net-zero energy to align with Federal Government and Parks Canada goals. Renewable energy is being generated from a 9 kW Solar PV array located on the roof of the building. This new facility includes a main kiosk room, staff room, two washrooms, laundry, wood storage and utility rooms. M&R Engineering were responsible for Mechanical and Electrical design services included energy modeling for Solar PV sizing and construction administration.

  • Building envelope includes double glazed windows, R-23 walls & R-34 roof

  • Fresh air and exhaust is provided with a high efficiency energy recovery ventilator

  • Heating and cooling is accomplished with an variable speed air-source heat pump

  • A 9 kW solar photovoltaic (PV) array system is design to offset all energy use in the building

  • High efficiency LED lights and occupancy sensors

  • Hybrid heat pump domestic water heater
