On this 52nd anniversary of Earth Day, we recognize the challenges that lie ahead as we strive to reduce our impact on the planet. Not the least of which is climate change. The province of Nova Scotia has made a commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 53% below 2005 levels by 2030 and to achieve net zero emission by 2050. The following highlights some of the recent steps M&R has taken to help the province reach these goals:
Designed two new buildings that are targeting Net-Zero Energy Use: Fort Needham Park and Kouchibouguac Kiosk.
Designed two existing building retrofits to become Net-Zero Energy or Net-Zero Energy Ready: Corner Villa Manor and Antigonish Manor.
Performed energy models on over 70 buildings that are projected to save over 60 million kWh and 35,000 tonnes of greenhouse gases per year - equal to taking almost 8,000 cars off the road.
Designed over 30 projects that rely on Ground-Source Heat Pumps and 20 projects that rely on Air-Source Heat Pumps for heating in preparation for a clean electrical grid and deep emission reductions.
Performed multiple Net-Zero Energy Studies as we help clients meet their environmental commitments.
Designed over 400kW of Solar PV arrays, enough to power the equivalent of 40 new houses.
Designed over 20 LEED Certified Buildings.
